The Dreamers
The owners, Kristee and Matthew, bought the property in 2004 and live on it full time. Both are working artists. Kristee has also been part of the technology industry for the last 22 years. Matthew is a designer and maker of furniture.
It has been their dream (hence the name) to be able to own, work and thrive on a piece of land such as this.
It is also their goal to create a place of abundance for themselves and all who visit here.
Ranch Facts
- The views are of the surrounding hills and Mt. St. Helena, which is 27 miles to the east. Sunrise can be spectacular and often includes eight geysers on the horizon. The nearest neighbor is almost 2 miles away.
- You can see a small portion of Lake Sonoma from the top of the property.
- There are over 7 miles of good interior roads on the ranch. There are about 2 miles of 4x4 roads and 2 miles of hiking trails.
- 15% of the land is gentle, 35% moderate, 50% steep. About 80% of the property is tree covered.
- Both Strawberry Creek, which flows through it, and Warm Springs which runs along the county road, are year round creeks.
Ranch History
The older building's were built by Duke Blair and his wife. We think he might have inherited this land around 1920.
The Sheep Shearing Barn was probably built about 1910. They hired seasonal help for rounding up and shearing and they did it almost all on horses. The 14,000 acres ranch, went back 9 miles to the west.
The road - Old Skaggs Springs - used to go all the way into town before the Lake was built in 1983. This road also led to the Skaggs Springs Resort - a favorite hot springs of the late 1890's. Click here to find a lot of wonderful info and history about the old Skagg's Springs Resort.
